Email is just too slow
Recent research conducted by Soprano has found a surprising result, for ‘teens email is just too slow!
In fact, asking the question ‘what do you email to friends?’ was met with outright derision from many, with others saying they only use it for communicating with their ‘nan’ and ‘family abroad’.
The clear winner is Instant Messaging, whose immediacy wins out, even over texting, which of course costs money! And MSN Messenger is especially liked by the ‘teen market, with many quoting it as the main way they keep in touch with friends, followed by Facebook.
“It’s clear that teens view email in much the same way as the early adopters of email viewed the post - just too slow.” commented Mark Wooding, Soprano Managing Director. “The implication for marketeers is that e-marketing can’t be e-mail marketing if you want to reach teens. A brand’s message needs immediacy and relevance, and social network distribution is King!”
